DRAWING ON THE PAST

Born in Hamilton and residing in Midland Ontario, my lifetime preoccupation with the Visual Arts is a happy affliction that has developed throughout my life. With a rearview perspective on a career in Merchandising & Display and Marketing, I am currently enrolled in a post-secondary Visual Arts program to further develop my interest and skills in rendering form and application of colour. My evolving practice enjoys constancy through joyous use of pigment, and bold, expressive mark making, and continues to grow through participation in juried and non-juried shows, public and private installations, and artist exchanges.

I have been influenced by studies of historical periods of Art including Humanism, Impressionism, Art Deco, Contemporary and Political Art. Encouraged by creative and supportive family, inspiring teachers, coworkers and fellow artists, my artistic path includes design and creation in textiles, glass, acrylics, and pen & ink.  Through these vehicles, my fascination with colour, light and shadow translates into figurative, representational, and abstract works.

My works may be found in Public Installations and Private Collections in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Alberta, and Ontario, and is available to view and purchase through organizations such as Quest Art in Midland ON, The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts in Collingwood ON, the Barrie Arts Club in Barrie ON, and through my website.
